ERPNext in India has an advantage most ERPs cannot claim: it was written here. Frappe Technologies in Mumbai maintains it, releases it free under the GPLv3 licence and builds it on its own Frappe Framework in Python, MariaDB and JavaScript. The result is an ERP where GST, e-invoicing, e-way bills and TDS are part of the design rather than a localisation pack fitted to software built for another tax system.

Why ERPNext in India fits the way Indian businesses work
The India Compliance app, installed on every Thirvusoft project, produces GST invoices with the right place of supply, e-invoices with IRN and QR code, e-way bills from the delivery note or invoice, GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B data, TDS deductions and HSN summaries. Multiple GSTINs across states sit under one company, so a distributor with depots in three states files GSTIN-wise from one ledger. INR is the base currency, the chart of accounts follows the Indian format an auditor expects, and multi-currency is available for exporters.
Frappe HR, the HRMS app from the same maintainer, runs payroll with provident fund, ESI and professional tax, with attendance fed from biometric devices such as eSSL and ZKTeco. Because the code is open, an Indian quirk, whether a weighbridge slip, a commission-agent trade or a job-work challan, is handled by configuration or a small custom app rather than a request to a product team abroad.

Thirvusoft has implemented all 17 ERPNext modules across its client base: Accounts, Finance, Sales and POS, Purchase, Inventory, Manufacturing, CRM, Marketing, Projects, HR and Payroll, Asset Management, Support and Helpdesk, Website and E-commerce, Education, Healthcare, Agriculture and Loan Management. In version 15 the last few ship as separate apps on the same Frappe base, which keeps the core lean while still covering a school, a clinic or a lending and deposit business.
No client switches on all 17. Most start with Accounts, Sales, Purchase and Inventory, add Manufacturing or Projects according to what they make or deliver, and bring in HR and Payroll once attendance and salary slips need to come from the same system as the ledger.

Hosting ERPNext in India: cloud or on-premise
ERPNext runs on a Linux server with MariaDB, and where that server sits is your choice. Most clients choose a cloud server located in India, which keeps data within the country, needs no hardware at the office and is reachable from every branch and from the Flutter mobile apps we build. On-premise suits a plant with unreliable internet or a policy that data must stay inside the building; we install it, configure backups and support it the same way.
In both cases the database and any custom Frappe apps belong to you. There is no per-user licence to renew and no vendor who can switch off access; if you ever move to another implementer or an in-house team, the system moves with you.
ERPNext implementation across India: how a Thirvusoft project runs
Every project follows five steps: Discover, Configure and Customise, Migrate Data, Train, and Go Live and Support. Within Tamil Nadu our consultants visit the site. Elsewhere in India, discovery happens over video calls with each department, configuration on a test instance you log into with weekly screen-share reviews, and data migration from Tally, Excel or a legacy ERP through trial imports until the opening trial balance agrees. Training is role-wise over screen share, in English or Tamil.
A trading or service company is typically live in four to eight weeks; a manufacturer with BOMs, job cards and costing in eight to fourteen. On ERPNext pricing in India: there is no licence fee, so the cost is implementation, customisation, hosting and support. Implementation for an SME typically starts within a few lakh rupees, and we quote a fixed price after discovery, with hosting and AMC shown as separate annual lines.
ERPNext support in India after go-live
Go-live is followed by hyper-care, where the consultant who configured your system handles issues directly through the first month-end and GST filing. After that an annual maintenance contract covers fixes, user questions, minor changes and version updates, delivered by phone and WhatsApp from Coimbatore between 9:30 and 18:30 IST, Monday to Saturday, with site visits arranged in Tamil Nadu when a change needs to be seen in person. Integrations such as WhatsApp messaging, e-way bill and e-invoice APIs, IndiaMART lead sync and cloud telephony are added under the same contract.
Honest limits, and where Thirvusoft stands
Thirvusoft is an independent ERPNext implementation company. We are not Frappe Technologies, we are not affiliated with them and we do not speak for them; we implement, customise and support the software they publish. ERPNext itself has limits worth knowing: it needs an internet connection or a local server, it rewards businesses willing to adopt standard flows rather than recreate every old habit, and version upgrades need planning when custom apps are involved. Where a requirement is better served by a different tool, we say so during discovery rather than after the contract.
